Tips To Be More As A Productive Night Owl

Does the thought of morning make you cringe? Are you awake in the wee hours of the night while the rest of the world is fast asleep? If so, then you already know that it seems like a morning person’s world. This may pose some challenges to those who are only motivated to function when the sun starts setting. If you’re a night owl by nature, be more productive by integrating a few of our tips into your night life.

One of the biggest challenges a night owl faces is having to function in the morning when it’s time to get up and go to work. Since you aren’t at your best first thing in the morning, simply use the night to prepare for the next day. Pack your healthy lunch, filled with protein, fiber, and complex carbs, the night before. That way you will not be forced to eat the most convenient meal (which usually turns out being a Big-Mac) because you didn’t have time to make your lunch in the morning. Also, consider packing your workout clothes too so that you’re ready to head to the gym after work.

Exercise At Night

When you have very little motivation to even sit up in bed in the morning, there is no point in requiring that you work out on top of that. You will have a way better workout when you feel the most awake. So if you are a night owl, skip the morning 6 am Kickboxing class and instead shoot for an evening run!

Control Your Environment

Just because your body naturally wakes up when most are ready for bed doesn’t mean you have to be a slave to it. If tend to be a night owl but must function in the morning hours, then you will need to control your environment. Make sure the lights in your home are dim when it starts to turn dark. Stop drinking and eating things keep you wired later in the day (like sugar and caffeinated beverages). Take a hot bath before bedtime so you can relax and be ready to get enough sleep so you can wake up in time for work! Put away electronic devices 2 hours before your sleep time.

If You Can’t Beat Em’ Join Em’

If you find that functioning in the morning is positively not your thing no matter what you do, then give up! That is to say, join the night owl world. Think about getting a job where you can work nights, control your day environment so it keeps you sleepy by using blackout curtains and earplugs. Sometimes our best bet is to join em’ when we can’t beat em’.

It takes all sorts of people to make the world go round. So if you are a night owl, don’t feel bad! You know what works for you. Try to make the best of your morning routine but if you can’t, then find a way to make night work for you!
